At the Growth Lab, we believe decarbonization presents a defining opportunity for growth by creating new industries, markets, and paths for economic development. We’re researching how countries can leverage these trends to develop green growth strategies.
As the world commemorates Earth Day 2024 this week, the Growth Lab is hosting dozens of policymakers, senior government officials, and others at its “Leading Green Growth: Economic Strategies for a Low-Carbon World” executive education program. Led by Ricardo Hausmann, the program provides a foundational understanding of decarbonization and its economic impact.
We recently concluded multi-year research engagements in the Peruvian and Colombian Amazon. While deforestation is often treated as inevitable to serve the world’s economic needs, our research identifies opportunities to achieve shared prosperity without sacrificing the rainforest. We believe the key to growth in the Amazon depends on the connectivity and opportunity in its cities.
