PAE Support Events: Writing a Data Management & Safety Plan 📃
By this point in the PAE process, if you are an MPP you should have submitted your PAE Ethical Research Review Form (PERRF) and received notification of whether you need to submit a Data Management & Safety Plan. This plan (also known as a Data Safety Review) is necessary if you're working with sensitive, regulated, or confidential data, since it will ensure you're fulfilling your ethical, moral, and in some cases legal obligation to protect that data.
If you're required to prepare a PAE Data Management & Safety Plan, the HKS Library can help. Register for any of the events below, or email Megan Potterbusch, Research Data Steward. | | | |

Making Your PAE/SYPA Accessible: Resources, Workshops, & Templates 💻
HKS students must create accessible copies of their PAE and SYPA, per Harvard University's Digital Accessibility Policy. Ensuring your PAE/SYPA is accessible will allow people of all abilities to engage with your work in equally meaningful ways. Beyond your PAE/SYPA, knowing how to create accessible digital content will be an important element of your public policy toolkit.
The HKS Library can help you make your PAE/SYPA accessible. We encourage MPPs and MPA/IDs to take advantage of the following resources:
-
Guide to Creating Accessible PAE & SYPA: This short document and checklist describes the necessary elements of an accessible document and how to implement them. It also lists where you can get support, and includes links to the workshops and templates described below.
-
Workshops & Support Sessions: The HKS Library and Harvard Digital Accessibility Services (DAS) are hosting 9 workshops and support sessions between November 27, 2023 and March 22, 2024. Register for these events via the links in the Guide to Creating Accessible PAE & SYPA above, or for the first two events below.
-
Accessible Templates: We've prepared templates for creating accessible PAE/SYPA in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Slides. Find the instructions and links for downloading the templates in this document, or linked from the Guide above.
