September is National Library Card Signup Month! During the month, public libraries across the US mark the beginning of the school year with a campaign to ensure everyone has a library card and can take full advantage of the many resources and services public libraries have to offer.
This September, the HKS Library and Cambridge Public Library invite you to sign up for your local library card right on the HKS campus! A card will get you free access to print books, audiobooks, e-books, museum passes, and more.
Any Massachusetts resident, even a temporary one, can get a public library card. You don't have to be a Cambridge resident. Just bring a photo ID and proof of MA residency (like a lease, utility bill, or piece of official mail) to the event.
We're also encouraging HKS community members to send a letter of appreciation to your favorite public library, anywhere in the world. We'll pay for postage! Fill out a postcard at the event, stop by the HKS Library whenever we're open, or submit this online form. | | |

New Book Display: Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month |
|
|
 |
Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month is an annual celebration of the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Latin America and other Spanish-speaking countries. The US first observed the occasion in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week, which was expanded in the 1980s into a month-long celebration from September 15 to October 15. These dates encompass the anniversaries of independence for many Latin American countries.
In this book display observing Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month, you'll find literary nonfiction, novels, memoirs, poetry, and nonfiction about the identities, experiences, politics, history, and activism of people with roots in Latin America and other Spanish-speaking countries. |

We pay respect to the people of the Massachusett Tribe, past and present, and honor the land itself which remains sacred to the Massachusett People.
